Jacque Newman is a freelance writer with a specialty in family pets of all kinds.
She is the founder and former publisher of Toronto-based "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs!" - a bi-monthly newspaper for dogs and their owners.
Jacque's weekly column, "UrbanAnimal," appears on InsideToronto, Metroland Publishing's website, and under the "Animail" banner appearing in Owen Sound Sun-Times newspaper. Her writing has also appeared in "For Love of Cats" magazine.
A six-time nominee and three-time Maxwell award winner for feature articles from Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA), she's a current member of Cat Writers' Assoc. (CWA). Jacque also edits books on pet-related subjects and is a moderator for "Pets with Diabetes" web forum.
She started her working life in print production at a variety of ad agencies, co-owned a motorcycle shop and taught ballet and jazz dancing to children and adults.
A long-time pet owner and animal lover, Jacque lives in Toronto with her husband, Art, two gorgeous golden retrievers, two crazy cats and one skunk who has taken up residence under the porch.
