Indrani Rauth - Profile

<p>History of your education and/or involvement in your topic area.</p> <p>I am a student at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. I am a Biology major and Dance minor and I plan to graduate in 2002. I am currently on leave from school and am living in Amherst, MA.</p> <p>I have studied dance since I was three years old. I first studied at Carolyn Dutra Dance Studio in Warwick, RI. I learned ballet and tap and performed in the annual recitals. When I was 6 years old I started learning jazz. At age 8 I joined the Southern Rhode Island Youth Ballet Company. At age 9, I joined the Jazz Company. When I was 10, I traveled with my company to the UK for an exchange tour where traveled, sightseed, and performed for two weeks.</p> <p>When I was 14, I attended St. George's School in Newport, RI. While at SG, I studied modern dance during the winter and began choreographing lyrical solos which I performed in the annual shows.</p> <p>At Mt. Holyoke I began to explore ethnic dance and choreography in other fields such as jazz/hip hop.</p> <p>At age 19, I took leave from MHC and stayed in Las Cruces, NM, with my family. While there I studied dance at CityDance Theater - ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, Irish, clogging, and a little flamenco and modern. I performed as a principal dancer in several shows there.
