Barbara Steinhauser - Profile

Barbara Shirley received an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College in 2001. While there, she presented a well-received power point presentation outlining the magical realism technique, "defamiliarization," a strategy more subtle than a shock jock tactic but intended to startle an audience towards reshaping stuck mindsets, none the less.

Barbara currently edits a spiritual newsletter, selecting monthly themes and fleshing them out with articles from all spiritual disciplines in order to delineate commonalities.

She is a published poet, avid hiker and bottom line mama, with time for romancing her husband but not for housework.

What makes me tick? Sharing ideas with others, emailing, information... an occasional walk with my dogs into the Hundred Acre woods nearby. And transfiguration.
