Ijaz Chaudhry

Born in Belfast, I have spent time both in the U.K. and Pakistan. Educated at the University of Sheffield (Masters in Public Health), writing and sports have always been my passion. I am a member of SJA (Sports Journalists Association of Great Britain).

Mostly, I have been a freelance sports journalist but have also worked fulltime on the sports desk of a daily newspaper. I have covered a wide range of sports from soccer to power lifting for many newspapers in the U.K. including Kent Messenger, Birmingham Post, Coventry Telegraph, Leamington Spa Courier, Leamington Observer and Metro. And also for Pakistan’s leading newspapers, The News and The Nation as well as Bangladesh,s largest English newspaper, The Daily Star.

I have also been contributing to sports magazines: Cricket World, Push Hockey, Squash Player, Swimming Times in U.K. and Football (Pakistan) as well as websites including www.cricinfo.com and www.worldhockey.org, the official website of FIH (International Hockey Federation).

-Have covered matches and tournaments (local, regional, national and international) over a wide range of sporting disciplines

-Have interviewed a number of sportspersons including world champions and Olympic gold medallists as well as potential teenage stars and local achievers

-Have written preface of sports books on request of the authors including the biography of a World Cup winner and also co-authored a sports book

-Plenty of subbing experience

-Primarily a sports journalist but have also written on business, travel, politics, current affairs, history, and health
