Marci Hotsenpiller is Communications Director of Suite101.com.
In her 15 years of helping organizations tell their stories to news media in North America, Europe, Australia and the UK, Marci has creatively pitched and placed over 500 articles and interviews with a range of sources including Businessweek, Fast Company, the Globe and Mail, the Guardian, MSNBC, le Monde, Publishers Weekly, Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Times of India, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, WIRED, BBC, CBC, CNN, and NPR.
She is most at home working with media to shine a spotlight on the authors, books, social trends and information that people should know about next. During her years at ISL Television in London, the Vancouver International Writer's Festival, and Abebooks.com she has enjoyed memorable career moments include gossiping with Harry Potter author JK Rowling on her first visit to Canada, breaking news stories to the New York Times, being chastised by Oprah, and ducking firecrackers at FIBA basketball games in Europe while promoting TV shows on EuroSport.
A veritable newshound who has also penned her share of lifestyle and travel articles, Marci has a degree in Communications from McGill University in Montreal and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and now lives on Vancouver Island in the Comox Valley. Born in the year of the dog (and highly allergic to cats), she enjoys watching eagles dive for salmon in her front yard when not at her desk in Vancouver. In her spare time she collects fiesta ware and thinks about running the Boston marathon for a second time.
