Growing up in a family where dinner was a time we all sat down together to enjoy a homemade meal is how my love affair with food began. As a child, I was always in the kitchen, helping my mother. With a Greek grandmother and an Italian grandfather, I've always had an affinity for Mediterranean-style cooking -- using fresh, natural, simple ingredients.

After graduating from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a degree in journalism and working briefly as a newspaper reporter, I recently moved out to the West Coast where I am an editor for several business to business magazines. However, my true passion is cooking and whenever I get a chance to write about, I jump on it.

Since moving to Los Angeles I've grown obsessed with scouring local farmer's markets, searching for the best produce in which to cook with. I firmly believe that anyone can have fun in the kitchen in an inexpensive, healthy and quick way.

My goal as a Suite101 contributing writer is to introduce edgy, hip, young recipes that will turn any night into a party.
