Andrea Hines

Andrea Hines has ten years of teaching experience at the high school level. She holds a BA in English. Having taught in both Fairfax County, VA and New York City she brings a unique perspective to education reporting. She taught at every level of high school curricula, gifted and talented, ESL transitional, International Baccalaureate (IB), and creative writing.

Now working as an Executive Assistant for a medical school department chair, she has used the gift of free time to pursue other interests including starting graduate school at NYU. She serves as an assistant examiner for IB language A1 exams and freelance graded for the College Board the first year they added an essay to the SAT. Last summer she attended her first writer’s conference in Cape Cod, MA. She plans to offer articles on high school English and ELA teaching, teacher-to-parent and teacher-to-community relations, poetry writing, SAT and IB essay preparation and evaluation, and international exchanges.
