I have always loved animals--have always been fortunate enough to "be owned" by loving pets. In our 37 years of marriage, Pete & I have had various cats & dogs. Pete was interested in tropical fish for awhile, but we found

that we enjoyed the soft, cuddly pets best! During this time, we managed to have 2 children, and now 3 grandchildren who all love animals. Pete & I married after I finished high school, moved to Lubbock, TX where he attended Texas Tech, and I worked in a bank. After graduation, we moved to Big Springs, TX. We had our first child, Cindy, while living there. By the way, we had pets from the very beginning of our married life. We moved frequently during the next few years. While in Midland, TX, we had our second child, Randy. We have lived in Tulsa, OK for over 20 years. During this time, I went to LPN school--worked in local hospitals, doctor's offices, moved my father from Texas to live with us following my mother's death. He was with us for 4 years before he died. In the meantime, I had an unsuccessful back operation, and retired from nursing. At this time in our lives, Pete works out of the home, and I keep busy with grandkids and GPA/OK [Greyhound Pets of America/OK chapter].

We first became interested in greyhounds about one year ago. Pete had discovered that his family shield showed three running greyhounds, and he told me that he thought our next dog should be a greyhound. All I could envision [knowing nothing about this breed] was an ugly, grey, skinny dog! After our bassett, Dudley, went to the Rainbow Bridge [for those of you who do not know what this is I will explain later], we knew the time had come to look into owning a greyhound. We went to our local Petsmart, where we knew GPA/OK showed their hounds on Sundays. What a surprise I was in for!! Not only were these the sweetest dogs I had ever seen, they were beautiful! They seemed to come in all colors. We were fortunate enough to be chosen by a white greyhound named Whitney. She has brought much joy and happiness into our lives! My husband said it best "these dogs just make you feel better--they are magical!" I hope you will enjoy learning, along with me, all about these magnificent dogs. Oh yes, that ugly, skinny, grey dog I had imagined has never been seen,because--guess what--it does not exist!!
