My name is Greg, I am 38 years old and I live in the beautiful little town of Cobourg, Ontario, with my partner, Gillian, and our two kids, Rachel and Josh. My house is just two blocks from the shore of Lake Ontario.

When I was a child at our cottage up north, I remember seeing Coronation Street listed in the TV Guide every Sunday morning on the CBC, and since we only got one channel up there, it was a choice of either watching it or playing outside. But for some reason, I had it in my head that it was a religious show, so I always chose to play.

When I was about seventeen (this would have been about 1979), I happened to be home sick from school and there it was one afternoon. I watched one episode and I thought it was wonderful, funny, dramatic and down to earth. And I've watched it ever since.

I think it was about 1985 that I got connected to the internet. I had no idea what to look for. The first thing I did was to search for Coronation Street things, I figured, well, at least I know about that! And I've been involved with the online Coronation Street community ever since.

At the time, I was connected via a freenet ISP that used lynx - I couldn't see pictures and couldn't even type in addresses, I had to go places by clicking. It was web surfing in it's truest form. I had read that there was a Coronation Street chat room somewhere, but for the life of me I couldn't think of what to do about it. Then one day, I came across a telnet link to the Undernet IRC network (via France of all places). I clicked on it and all of a sudden, my screen came alive and I found myself in a room full of Coro fans from all over. It was absolutely thrilling! Here I was sitting in the basement in Toronto talking to people from England about what had happened that night in my favourite show!

Things were kind of winding down on that channel, so on August 1st, 1996, I started my own on the DALnet IRC network (it has since moved to SorceryNet) and did up a web page for it.

In the beginning, I would have to park myself there in hopes that someone would happen upon it. Gradually, people started to find it and it became busier and busier. And now it's filled with people almost 24 hours a day. And you'd be surprised at how friendly and warm a place it is, it turns out that Coronation Street fans are the best.

Since the start, I have countless hours hunting out other Corrie websites for the website's links. I love nothing more that to find a brand new effort created by a fan sitting alone at home just because they feel an enthusiasm for this great show.

Cheers!
