Jerry M. Gutlon, Kristie G. Gutlon

Jerry M. Gutlon is an award-winning, lifelong journalist who has written for such publications as The Sunday New York Times, The Washington Post and Worcester Magazine. He's also appeared extensively on ABC Radio.

Nominated for more than 30 broadcast news awards between 1980-1987, Gutlon has predominantly concentrated on print journalism since early 1988. He was nominated for 11 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Journalism Awards between 1981-1983, and was cited in the U.S. Congressional Record for his reporting on a Virginia-based murder case involving a suspected serial killer.

He's won numerous statewide awards for outstanding print reporting in Ohio and Florida, and has been widely recognized as a premiere investigative journalist. He also won an New York State Associated Press broadcast award in 1980.

With the exception of nine years on military active duty Gutlon has spent his entire adult life in news and sports reporting.

Gutlon has worked in radio and television news and sports in Boston, MA; Concord, NH; Worcester, MA; Burlington, VT; upstate NY, and Charlottesville, VA, and periodically continues to do play-by-play and color commentary of high school baseball and football in West Central GA.

Among the daily newspapers Gutlon has labored at full-time are The Stuart News (Stuart, FL); The Daily Commercial (Leesburg, FL); The Griffin Daily News (Griffin, GA); The Daily News-Tribune (Cartersville, GA), and the Xenia Daily Gazette (Xenia, OH).

He's currently authoring two nonfiction books, and has done extensive magazine reporting. He own his own independent communications firm, Affordable Communications, doing everything from disc jockeying to public relations.

He covered the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, and has covered the Boston Celtics, the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons, along with several minor league teams.

During his six years in Georgia Gutlon has extensively covered NASCAR, and has interviewed Nextel Cup drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Waltrip, Kyle Petty, Mike Wallace and Mark Martin, among others.

Gutlon has also covered U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, U.S. Sen. John Kerry, U.S. Sen. John Warner and a variety of other state and federal goverment officials. He's interviewed such sports notables as Hall-of-Famers Carl Yastrzemski, Carlton Fisk, Harmon Killebrew and Tony Oliva, and many of the former Boston Celtics from their Golden Era.

He has also done a great deal of entertainment and music reporting, particularly in the realm of contemporary Christian music. Gutlon has interviewed such musical luminaries as Charlie Daniels, Steven Curtis Chapman, Big Tent Revival, The Newsboys, Caedmon's Call, Rebecca St. James, Michelle Tumes, Chris Rice, Loggins and Messina, Geoff Moore, The Waiting, Third Day and Jennifer Knapp.
