Having left the BBC's Paris news office to return to England and get married over 20 years ago, I have freelanced as a journalist ever since, specialising in travel, based in London. At first I covered the subject mainly from the family angle, thanks to the experience of holidaying with our three children. This led to on to "Family Favourites", a paperback published by Corgi, and regular features in the Times Educational Supplement on the theme of school visits.
More recently both my travels and outlets have broadened with features regularly appearing in British newspapers and magazines, including the Daily Telegraph, TV Times, Sunday Mercury (Birmingham), thelondonpaper and European Business. France, Germany and the UK are the countries which I now cover most frequently, in particular the Languedoc area in South West France on which I have written a guidebook for Thomas Cook Publishing.
But when I travel my aim is not simply to sightsee. What I enjoy most is being able to combine visiting a place with an activity, particularly walking, cycling, tennis or, in winter surroundings, skiing.
