I graduated from Edith Cowan University as a Bachelor of Communications, and my majors of 'Journalism' and 'Film and Video' represent both of my interests of the media workplace.
I have recently travelled North America, Europe and the UK. The exposure to so many cultures brings a new understanding and appreciation for home, but also the need to reach out to the people back home to broaden their minds to important issues.
I have freelanced for the past year for print publications, my most recent outlet being the Australian PlayStation magazine, as well as online. Last year I worked at The West Australian for 15 weeks as a journalist, and six months as a picture clerk, yet my interests lie in entertaining and informative pieces.
I have contributed to half a season of a television show on Access 31 Perth for Launch Productions called 'Funk Up The Menu', which was a restaurant and live band show.
I was a presenter and producer at 990 6RPH Information Radio for three months, producing a weekly show, making hourly announcements, as well as mixing four shows a day.
The West Australian was the perfect training for working under tight deadlines. University was nothing compared to the "Story by 3pm" deadline I had every day. Out of university, I have been involved with all facets of the media: Film, print and radio. These are all different in how they present a story, and knowing the differences allows better understanding of what the audience expects, and how you can play with their expectations.
