I work full time as a professional biologist. I received my Masters Degree in Vertebrate Zoology from the University of Memphis and my Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Missouri. Throughout my career, the ecology and conservation of amphibians (mostly frogs) has been the focus of my research. Specifically, I look at the impacts that environmental changes (such as global warming, disease, and pesticide use) can have on populations of amphibians, and how these changes may be contributing to the worldwide decline of these organisms.

While I have enjoyed writing dozens of peer-reviewed papers published in professional journals, I also write about other things in my life. I love to read, write, and sew - although as a mother of two small children I have to try very hard to find the time to do those things (albeit does make writing parenting articles much easier). I enjoy brewing beer and drinking wine, and to burn off those extra calories I distance run. Health and fitness are important to me and I enjoy writing about that as well.
