Raised in Pakistan, India, Greece and the U.S., Vicki settled down in the beautiful state of Florida with her husband and three children, two dogs and a cat. As a mother, teacher, writer, ex-flight attendant, her life has been full of challenges and surprises.

Creative Writing

At a weekend poetry convention, Vicki walked away the startled-but-happy recipient of a $20,000.00 Grand Prize for a poem titled, Love Letter to India. Click on previous winners (Vicki - March 2003) to read the poem.

In 2007 she received a top prize in poetry in the Writer's Digest annual contest for her poem, Delhi Swim Club. In the 4th annual Writer's Digest Poetry Competition, her poem, Bijou, was published in the Competition Collection in April of 2009. Her opinion on contests: You'll never win if you never try.

Work Experience

Along with her thirteen years of teaching (literature, creative writing, French, Latin, history), she has also worked for a local print magazine as editor, writer and sales exec. She flew with Delta Air Lines for half a dozen years until a plane crash grounded her, temporarily. A certified Zumba Gold dance instructor, she enjoys music from every corner of the globe.

In addition to her work here at Suite101.com, Vicki is also an Examiner at Examiner.com and a contributing writer at eHow.com.
