Sheri Amsel has written and illustrated more than 15 published books about nature and science. Her life long interest in natural history and the outdoors led to degrees in botany and zoology. Combining natural science with a love for illustration, Sheri went on for a master’s degree in anatomy and biomedical illustration followed by an internship at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. in scientific illustration.
Sheri’s work includes writing and illustrating nonfiction science and nature books for children and field guides for adults, school and library workshops, outdoor education with nature hikes for kids and adults, nature trail development, educational murals for museums, outdoor education facilities and conference centers and teaching college science. <strong>www.adirondackillustrator.com</strong>
Sheri has created a free science education website for kids and educators at: <strong>www.exploringnature.org </strong>The site features a database with over 1,000 animals, science activities, "ask the zoo vet" column, animal adaptations, animal movies and a gallery where kids can post their wildlife drawings.
