I am a 53-year-old freelance writer living in NYC. I enjoyed a 20-year career in the travel and tourism industry. Because of my work, I was privileged to travel all around the world. In 1997, I left that career to become a teacher for the NYC Department of Education. But after only 7 years I was sidelined by ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease and finally had to leave teaching and become a disabled person.
