Rugby
I am a sports nut and a rugby die-hard. I bring to the table over 20 years experience as a rugby player, coach, referee, fan, analyst and writer. I am completely fanatical about the game, attending as many matches in the flesh as possible and watching many more at home and in pubs. 2007 marks the third World Cup I have personally attended and I cheered the Wallabies all the way to their crushing quarterfinal loss
NBA
Aside from rugby I have a deep passion for basketball, in particular the NBA. I recently had the chance to see my long time team, the New York Knicks play a three game home stand. Regardless of their ineptitude this season, they managed to win 2 of the 3 games which made for some great nights at Madison Square Garden
Travel
In my time I have lived in Australia (born and bred), the UK and Sweden. I currently live in London (my second stint here with seven years in between) and am using it as a gateway to European travel and, hopefully, further afield. I chronicle all my travels in my journal. I am also a keen photographer and never head home from a trip without having documented every happening in words and pictures.
Travel is an addicitve experience. Immersing oneself in a local culture can be a real buzz. It is something I intend to carry on doing throughout my life.
I have a degree in Physical Education but no longer teach, instead choosing to do contract work to supplement my travel whilst in London.
Writing
Writing is a release for me, matched only by actually getting off the laptop and playing sport or staying on the laptop and playing poker (another vice of mine which I like to write about). I try and write daily - whether its simple journal entries, short stories or just articles on subjects which tickle my fancy at a given moment. I really enjoy the feeling of getting my thoughts down in print. A lot of my writing is only seen by myself and those close to me. I would like to branch out however and start sharing my voice with readers near and far.
