Susan White - Profile

Susan White , (C.White, 2006)

Susan White is the founder of ExMogul Music, which began in 1994 as Fret Less Music NYC.

Having spent many years as a singer in a band as well as being its defacto publicist and booking agent, Susan understood that the nuts-and-bolts of promoting and managing a band often got in the way of the creative side of things. She imagined that most musicians felt bogged down by the non-musical aspects of being in a band and started a company that would help take care of all that stuff so that the musician could just get up and play. She promoted a talented rosted of artists, and also produced two female-fronted band CDs, Go on Girl 1 and 2. In addition, she did freelance work for two acts on the Shanachie Records label and wrote music reviews for a local zine. A changing music scene forced Fret Less to take a self-imposed hiatus in 2000. ExMogul Music emerged in 2006 with a focus on band reviews and consulting.

Currently, Susan works as a writer for a large university in Central Florida, and goes to as many local shows as her budget will allow. Her recent show roster has included acts ranging from the arena-rock of Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd to the blues of Buddy Guy and Robert Cray; the indie singer/songwriter musings of Brett Dennen and Gary Nichols to the back porch R&B/soul of MOFRO; the psychobilly of the Rev Horton Heat to the reality-TV Rockstar Supernova band; the legendary talents of Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard to the contemporary pop of John Mayer and Bo Bice.
