<p>I've taught professional communications - business and technical writing and speaking- for a number of years at two major educational institutions. I've learned that there's no mystery to getting a message across clearly to a listener or reader - it just takes the application of a few principles established by research. With a background in teaching English as a Second Language and training teachers of ESL, I specialize in communicating with audiences whose first language is not English - as is true for such a large part of our current workforce.</p> <p>I'm a real fan of the World Wide Web, often spending several hours a day getting information from it or designing pages for it. That is, that's what I do when I can't travel! In the past year, I've been to China, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Lithuania and Latvia. Some of it is for business or research, but all of it is for pleasure! In fact, I discovered Suite101.com when searching for Lithuanian wedding customs.</p> <p>Besides travel, I enjoy cooking - mostly exotic dishes - home decorating, reading, and doing crafts. I like gardening in the spring and fall, but in the South where I live, it's just too hot in the summer! That's when I curl up in air-conditioned comfort and discover new things about my computer!</p>
