Denise Lima - Profile

Hello, activities is my life, professionally as well as personally. My name is Denise Lima-Laskiewicz, 42 years old and married.

During the day my full time career keeps me busy. I work at a Veterans' facility as a recreation assistant. The residents range in age from 50 to 100 years old. Each one is a unique, special individual. Constantly they provide me with challenges.

In this field I am responsible for providing activities for a diversity of people. Currently I deal with 280 residents but am directly responsible for 60. During the day I will sit with them in the morning drinking a cup of coffee while discussing current events. We will then proceed to arts and crafts where we will spend two hours brainstorming with different craft projects. Our activities range from going off the grounds for dinner, deep sea fishing to listening to music or simply a hug for the day.

My favorite activity during the week is our writing therapy

program. This is were, as a group we create articles for our facility newsletter or correspond with pen pals from across the nation. Sometime their lives here are busier than mine.

At home, I keep busy during the winter reading novels, bowling, going to the gym, and writing children fiction articles. In the summer, the warm weather keeps me outdoors, jetskiing, softball, hiking, biking and scuba diving.

In between those times my husband and I go to the movies, take long walks or simply enjoy some quiet time together.
