Edward Montgomery

Contributor

Edward Montgomery earned his Bachelors degree in English with minors in philosophy and Russian in 2006 from the United States Air Force Academy. Though he has no academic or industry film background, he enjoys boasting of earning a student scholarship to the 2005 Telluride Film Festival based only on a review he wrote of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and thereby being the only non-film major in attendance. (And now being one of the only attendees that does not work in the film industry). It was at this festival that his enjoyment of film turned into a passion.

Upon graduation, Edward was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and is currently in training to be a pilot. In the time that he has between studying and flying, Edward can usually be found in a movie theater watching a new release or at home dissecting one of his old favorites. When asked to defend his pedigree in the world of film criticism, Edward replied, "I am a member of the most marketed demographic in Hollywood with a degree in English and a penchant for Stanley Kubrick. And I have two cats. What more do you want?"

With his rare background and unique path into writing for Suite101, Edward offers both a critical and everyday approach to film.
