I have a t.v.J-School/ English degree from the University of Georgia, and am a Master Gardener in Cobb County (north metro Atlanta.) My own little acre has been my experiment station for the past five years. <img src="http://www.suite101.com/files/topics/3103/files/onemore.gif"> I am 45 years old, married, and have a ten year old son, ALex---shown here--- who is my erstwhile helper and sometime critic. He has given me unusual insights in pest control.. .the gift of "Electronic Ears" (a small hyperbolic microphone, with headsets) made caterpillars and other munchy-crunchy insects a big hit this summer. We put the bugs into containers and hand fed them. (YUK!!) I suppose I crossed the line from "yard work" hater to gardening junkie about five years ago. I took every adult-ed and community workshop on gardening I could find, and finally ended up in the MG program. (It was just wonderful--I would reccommend this program to anyone interested in gardening, wherever you live.) I have photos of my garden in my daytimer next to my family pictures. I keep a shovel and a roll of brown paper in my trunk all the time, lest I pass a good rock on the roadside... I began writing with a weekly column for the Atlanta Garden Connection, on-line. I really enjoyed the chance to write about-well, basically, what was going on in our USDA zone. The climactic variations of 7A/B are wide-spread, and fascinating to observe. My other interests include flower arranging, and my trip to The National Cathedral's week-long workshop in January of '99 was fantastic!! I also enjoy books and do a lot of reading- and travelling- to see more gardens, of course! <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan ALT="Site Meter" --> <script>var site="sm2mutts"</script> <script language="JavaScript1.2" src="http://sm2.sitemeter.com/js/counter.js?site=sm2mutts"></script> <a href="http://sm2.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=sm2mutts" target=_top> <img src="http://sm2.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=sm2mutts" alt="Site Meter" nosave border=0></a> <!-- Copyright 1999 Site Meter --> <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" Endspan --> |
