Elaine Walker has been a freelance writer since 1997. Her published work includes fiction, poetry and non-fiction, much of which is concerned with the horse in history and culture. Her book, 'Horse' (2008) is part of the 'Animal' series from Reaktion Books Ltd.
She is primarily a fiction writer and is particularly interested in magical realism and storytelling which is not bounded by reality. Her first novel, coincidentally called 'The Horses' is forthcoming from Cinnamon Press early in 2010.
Elaine has a doctorate in English Literature and runs her own on-line writing courses. She also teaches creative writing and English literature in various university and community settings, as well as tutoring and assessing distance-learning courses for the Open College of the Arts.
