Elaine graduated from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth with a BSc in Computer Science and has worked for several years as a freelance Software Engineer. During the course of her career, she has written many technical documents from strategies to plans, designs, user manuals and help guides.
She is active in the local community and has edited (and provided fillers for) the journal of a local enthusiast group for over ten years. She has also researched and written many reports and articles on a variety of subjects for local community groups.
She is a keen genealogist and having spent many years researching her own family tree, now helps others with theirs. She is renowned for her rather bizarre delight in finding new graveyards to traipse around looking for possible ancestors.
She is also a keen local historian who is currently writing a book on the founding fathers of the UK South Coast town in which she lives.
