Hi there,
My name is Paul Macdonald and I'm twenty-three years old.
Despite a vocational financial-based background, I have always harboured literary ambitions. Gaining experience from local press was difficult, due to their tight budget restrictions, but my perseverance allowed me work placement days at the Bellshill Speaker, where I used the Xscribe program. I also compiled match reports for local junior teams, during which I picked up some basic shorthand techniques.
Once at university I managed to get some of my sporting articles into the notoriously tight-paged Glasgow Guardian newspaper. I also dabbled with the film section, providing thoughts on modern cinema, as well as movie reviews.
Upon leaving university I found that the most accessible medium to express my writing was through my love of music. By contacting magazines across the UK, and showcasing my work, I was able to get that foot in the door, as they say, and I am now a regular contributor to the publications listed below. During this time I've interviewed bands such as Dodgy, and The Tiny Dancers, and I have written reviews for festivals such as T in the Park.
I continue to write pieces on music, film and my main vice, the beautiful game, Football. feel free to get in touch via email if you have any comments.
Cheers!
