Editor Jill Florio, Tory Bennetsen

Let's tackle this in the form of an interview, shall we?

Who is Jill Florio?

Jill Florio is the Editor for Outdoor & Adventure and Science & Nature with Suite101.

What are her qualifications for editing the Outdoor Adventure section?

Jill originally started as a wilderness instructor for Voyageur Outward Bound, Elderhostel, Boojum Institute, Naturalists At Large, SunBow Ecology Center and AstroCamp. Among other guiding gigs, she lived the good life of the itinerant wanderer.

As Jill aged, she turned to outdoor print journalism, penning for SWEAT Magazine, the Prescott Valley Tribune, Flagstaff Live and Mountain Living Magazine, among other interesting things. She authored the 5th Ed of Globe-Pequot's Arizona Off The Beaten Path and has several travel guide projects on the pike.

That's a lot of information. And yet I find myself wanting want more. Is she new to Suite101?

Jill has been writing for this venerable site since 2001 (which is roughly a thousand years in Internet Time), in the various hats of Columnist, Community Manager, Managing Editor and Unit Manager. She was the Suite University Dean for the Health School, and of the School of Entertainment. She hosted the 2002 Suite101 Online Outdoor Writing Event, authored the Suite eBook Best of the Southwest, and helmed five different Suite columns over the years, including: Southwest Outdoors, San Diego Travel, Dog Grooming, Houseplants and Budget Decorating.

I want to read her online courses.

Well, if you insist. Her current Suite online courses are here: Decorating with Houseplants and Houseplants for Beginners. Her course on Dog Grooming for Beginners is coming next; Houseplant Rx follows shortly thereafter. All of these courses are free for Suite101 readers. Lucky you.

She sounds pretty swell. Where else does Jill write?

Glad you asked! Jill pens the Hiking and Backpacking topic at BellaOnline.com, as well as Living Simply.
