I am a freelance writer specializing in personal growth, emotional and mental health, and psychology. Writing about these subjects allows me to combine my love of writing with my desire to help others and shed some light on issues which are so often hidden in darkness.

My articles have been published in magazines such as Alive, BC Parent and Island Parent. To read samples of my writing and see a complete list of my published work, visit my web site at www.deborahward.ca.

Some of my published articles include:

* “Living an Authentic Life” (Alive)

* "The Time Crunch" (BC Parent)

* "The Shyness Solution" (Alive)

* "Developing Your Child's Empathy" (Island Parent)

* "The Changing Face of Single Parenting" (BC Parent)

After receiving my English degree, I studied publishing in Toronto, where I worked as a book and magazine editor and writer for ten years. I also write fiction, including short stories which have been published in Southern Oregon University’s West Wind Review and Island Writer magazine. I’m currently working on a novel.

I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and when I’m not writing I like to watch documentaries about American history, and read fiction, history, biography, psychology and personal growth books, among others. I also like to get outside and walk my dog, hike in the woods and swim in the ocean.
