Craig Hill
Suite101.com Contributing Writer
Craig Hill is an Australian writer and teacher. He wrote the popular Postcards From The Fringe series in Big Issue Australia magazine, as well as the Murphy's Lore Series. These dealt with real people overcoming adversity to make positive changes in their lives. He also wrote profiles on the street vendors for Big Issue magazine, telling their life stories and how they ended up living on the streets.
He has written a variety of articles for a variety of publications, including the National Indigenous Times and The Koori Mail, Australia's two major national Indigenous newspapers, as well as local newspapers and magazines.
His past writing has dealt mainly with homelessness, mental illness, marginalisation and Aboriginal Reconciliation, though he also has a keen interest in politics and travel. He has also appeared in newspaper, radio and television interviews addressing these issues.
Hill has travelled and worked with the homeless in Australia, China, United States, Indonesia, Thailand and Fiji. He spent several years living and teaching English and Life Skills on Aboriginal communities in outback Australia, a year touring China and teaching English, and six months in Hawaii examining the social and racial issues affecting homelessness there.
