Mark Silcox - Profile

I'm a graduate student, laboring away at a dissertation on certain Highly Arcane subjects in the philosophy of language, and earning my bread by teaching courses at Auburn University in Alabama. Over the past few years I've conceived a mild obsession for Interactive Fiction in all it's forms, and am struggling between classes to teach myself how to use two of the many available programming tools used for IF, TADS and ADRIFT. I got hooked on the stuff thanks to Stephen Grenade's excellent web site at www.interactfiction.miningco.com. So far I have two works of publically available IF to my credit - the freeware game DRAGONLORD and (part of) the script for a commercial console roleplaying game called AIDYN CHRONICLES, scheduled for release in January, 2001. I've also read, played and tested a whole lot of stuff by other IF authors, and have no shortage of opinions about the history, merits, and future of this amazing literary medium.
