Writer
Emma Clarke, Emma Clarke

I am a newly ordained freelance writer developing my own Copywriting business; having just completed my Diploma in Copywriting, in addition to writing creatively across a number of different fields.

I am keen to write when I can and where I can about things that stimulate or provoke a response within me, whilst developing my marketing and promotional skills as a writer of copy for promotional literature; adverts, brochures, web content and direct mail.

My background and academic qualifications are those of a Historian, having worked in the Heritage sector in the UK for over ten years. Most notably as Head of Audience Development at the British Museum and for seven years in the Education team at the National Maritime Museum. I specialise in Museology, Tudor History and 18c History - in particular Exploration and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

My knowledge of the teaching and interpreting of History extends beyond these areas and I enjoy writing critiques of Heritage attractions, museums and galleries, both in the UK and internationally. I have travelled within Europe fairly extensively, often noting my observations for critical or reflective articles and informal reviews of places or countries.
