Crystal Myrick

Contributor

Crystal Myrick was first introduced to both music and the art of storytelling at a young age. Her earliest memories consisted of listening to Motown oldies on a 45 and watching Showtime at the Apollo. Throughout her 23 years of life, she has owned well over 200 cassettes and CDs, ranging from Michael Jackson to Ciara.

Her interest in music grew when she joined the choir in her church and at school for a combined eight years. Wanting a more hands-on approach in music, she begged her parents to buy her a piano and proceeded to take lessons.

Myrick’s first piece was published when she was in the third grade and her second story the following year. It wasn’t until she was a mere ten years old when she started the first ever newspaper circulation at her school and held the title of Editor.

She furthered pursued her dreams to become a journalist throughout her school years and honed her skills on yearbook and newspaper staffs. She later took her studies to the next level when she decided to pursue a degree in Mass Communications at Saint Augustine’s College. Then her dreams came true when she received an offer to write for a local newspaper. Since then, Myrick has written numerous articles about pop culture, beauty, health and of course, music.
