From the Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa to pastel cherry blossoms in Vancouver, there are many great ways to welcome spring in Canada.
One of my treasured travel rules is being able to speak to the locals in the countries I visit. Nothing beats questioning the women protesting in the street in La Paz, Bolivia, or touring San Sebastian, Spain with a local. I've traveled extensively in Canada, having lived in or visited British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. Abroad, I've lived in the UK and traveled to Mexico, France, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Australia, Chile, Bolivia, and the U.S. While the bulk of my Suite101 writings cover travel destinations, I also hold a strong interest and experience in green issues, personal finance, sewing and fashion design, craft making, university life, Canadian history, and yoga. Writing and Editing Experience My most recent work includes co-authoring the Frommer's guidebook Best Hiking Trips in British Columbia. I've written and edited proposals, marketing letters, brochures, and other copy for a handful of corporate clients, employers, and publications. Previous to that, I completed an internship in magazine, a summer posting at a community newspaper, and a degree in Journalism and Spanish at the University of King's College. |
