Chiz Dakin

A keen mountain walker, scrambler, cyclist and occasional climber and sea kayaker for several years, Chiz Dakin has carried a camera with her where-ever she goes since her fingers were big enough to press the shutter button.

Some years ago she finally managed to put both time and money together to fulfil a lifetime's dream to spend six months travelling round the world, and in doing so caught the travel bug quite severely, and began to think about taking her keen interest in photography even more seriously.

So in 2006 she gained her HND in Photography, and in 2007 turned professional as a landscape, outdoors and adventure sports photographer.

In 2008 she learned to put pen to paper (or was that finger to keyboard?!) and now writes travel articles professionally as well as producing the photos to illustrate them. At the end of 2008, she also won the 2008 OWPG Award for Excellence in Photography for her images of the inaugural Madeira Isles Walking Festival earlier in 2008.

She is a member of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild (OWPG) and Writers and Photographers Unlimited (WPu) and her images have been published both UK-wide and internationally.

In 2009 she finally decided that teaching photography was also fun (having dabbled with it for a few years previously), and has just returned from researching the wonderful photographic opportunities in the Spanish Sierra Nevada where she will be running photography holidays for the leading trekking company of the region - Spanish Highs - from March 2010!
