My passion for writing began in the fourth grade when I enrolled in an after school creative writing class that prompted me to co-author my first book, a mystery with my golden retriever as the protagonist.
Years later, I graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in Public Relations and then from Clemson University with an MA in Professional Communication, a technical writing degree. While in graduate school, I taught Freshman Composition and a grammar lab. My passion for writing was renewed while I watched students actually enjoy writing. After graduating, I stayed at Clemson and taught Speech, carefully incorporating rhetorical theory into my lectures. While I was in academia, I taught all of my classes from a rhetorical perspective, and I use these ideas in my own writing today.
I left Clemson University to begin practicing what I had been preaching and studying. I currently work in marketing in Charleston, SC. I spend most of my day writing copy for brochures, newsletters, advertisements and invitations. In my spare time, I love going to the beach, playing with my black lab and competing in half marathons.
