Dianne Rees is a freelance writer and the founder and principal of Callooh Communications. Dianne has a Ph.D. in molecular biology and her research interests generally led up the evolutionary ladder. Her thesis work was a study of fruit fly genetics. As a Research Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, she investigated the molecular basis of tissue rejection after transplantation in mice. An interest in writing as a way to participate in innovation led Dianne to become an intellectual property attorney. Dianne’s practiced IP law in law firms, as well as in biotechnology and pharmaceutical corporations. She’s written patent applications on diverse subjects, including biotechnology, bioinformatics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and nanotechnology. After over twelve years of experience writing content for scientists, business leaders, legal professionals, and the clients they serve, Dianne founded Callooh Communications to provide corporate communications and copywriting services, both techie and creative. She currently authors a monthly newsletter on art, science, and law and the connections between them. Some of her articles have appeared in ezinearticles.com, BIO-IT World (co-authored), in the Intellectual Property Bulletin of Edwards and Angell, LLP, and in The Standard-Freelancer. But don’t let the techie background fool you, Dianne has eclectic interests and is an avid reader and writer of fiction. She enjoys B-movies as well as classic films. She tends to be quietly subversive in all her fiction works and has published short stories in Vestal Review (nominated for a Pushcart Prize), Spillway Review , Farmhouse Magazine , The Scruffy Dog Review , Planet Magazine, Universe Pathways, Bewildering Stories, The Harrow, Halfway Down the Stairs, Atomjack, and Neon Magazine |
