Brenda Layman

I grew up in eastern Kentucky in a family that hunted, fished, hiked, and camped regularly. Although I moved to Ohio to become a teacher and a writer, I continue to enjoy outdoor sports, especially fly fishing. I am a member of the Ohio Writer’s Guild, where I shared an essay I had written on one of my favorite sports, fly fishing. My fellow writers encouraged me to submit the essay for publication. To my delight, I discovered that I could combine two of my favorite things: outdoor sports and writing. I am also Co-editor of Fiction Writers' Platform, where fiction writers may post their work online and invite comments on their work. My outdoor articles have appeared often in Ohio Valley Outdoors magazine and Ohio Game & Fish. Another is scheduled to appear in Kentucky Game & Fish this spring. My interests in conservation include serving as a trustee for The Ohio Smallmouth Alliance. I am also a content provider and text editor for a number of websites on fishing and marine sports. Through Suite 101, I am able to share five decades of fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting experience with my readers. I hope that they enjoy my writing and that they discover for themselves the fun and excitement of outdoor sports.
