A public school teacher, mother, and grandmother, I am semi-retired and am involving myself increasingly in my hobbies and interests. One such interest is Jungian psychology. Another is writing. I combine the two in studying Jungian psychology with an analyst who conducts study groups and workshops and by writing and editing materials for her groups and workshops. As a part of a study group, I have traveled to the Jung Institute in Zurich for a summer course and have made several trips to Europe to study the archetypal symbolism in art, literature, and culture. My experience with Jungian psychology began more than 20 years ago when, as a wife, a mom of three active boys and a full-time special education teacher, I found myself over-extended and about to crash. I had already met Dr. Craig, then a psychiatrist, through a unique project, in which we both participated, involving bringing 4 mentally disabled young women out of an institution and helping them adjust to living in the community. I became fascinated with her work and studies as she pursued certification as a Jungian analyst. A number of years ago I began writing and editing materials for use with her study groups and workshops. The largest project was her book, Descent to Wholeness: Joli's Story, which I edited. I have found our association and joint projects in the field of Jungian psychology to be very meaningful. In addition to writing on Jungian psychology, I have published two books of poetry, Beneath the Surface and Touch My Soul. The latter won the Lee Witte Poetry Award for 1997-98. Currently, in addition to maintaining "Jungian Psychology" on Suite 101.com, I am writing a memoir and working on fiction and poetry. |
