Kimberly Kunaniec

Writing for Suite101 has given me the opportunity to indulge in one of my favorite pasttimes while making a living - Reality Television. However, I have a wide range of interests and educational experience that I love to share through my writing.

Education

I attended the University of California at Davis, where I recieved a Bachelor's degree in English. Though I was originally intending to go to law school, I changed course and went to the California Culinary Academy instead. I recieved a certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts. Now, four years later, I am heading back to campus to attend law school at the University of Oregon. Go Ducks!

Work Experience

For three and a half years, I worked as a professional baker specializing in wedding cakes. My culinary education helped me land a job at a high end Bay Area bakery where I worked with some of the best professionals in the business. Currently, I am working as a full-time freelance writer. I write online content for websites like Suite101, Examiner and Demand Studios. At the same time, I am trying to break into the top food magazines to combine my love of baking with words.

Hobbies and Interests

What writing does for me is allow me to engage all my interests. Not only can I write about food and writing, but I can explore everything that catches my eye. I can explore fiction, poetry, and prose. Science, travel, politics, film, and history can all be at my fingertips when I explore them in books and articles. Writing gives me permission to indulge myself and continue to learn.

My favorite activities in my free time include spending time with my cat, participating in events at my church, and reading anything I can get my hands on. My biggest guilty pleasure is reality television. I love watching shows that feature modeling and fashion, such as America's Next Top Model and Project Runway.
