Isn't it ever writer's dream to be able to write what he wants, when he wants, for who he wants? A few years ago I quit my fabulous career in order to guide my sons through their preschool years. And let's just say that some days I guide more than others! The entire time I was working in my fabulously boring career and while I've been at home playing referee for the past three years, I've never stopped writing. It is just recently that I learned that I could write and be in control of my writing. I've always thought of freelancing and I'm thrilled that there is so much opportunity out there. I'm hoping to get a great start from Suite 101!
I enjoy writing as a creative outlet and some days more as an escape, of sorts, from the hectic life of a woman living in a male dominated household. Even though I'm stuck in kiddie ville I am able to write about a lot of different subjects, so go ahead and pick my brain. Just don't pick too hard, you might get scared. I have a degree in business, although my true interests couldn't be more outside of a business box. I love the outdoors, animals and gardening, I've traveled extensively and I am a mother of twin boys. I am an artist by nature. If I'm not writing you will find me with a paintbrush or pencil in hand.
If you were to look at my portfolio, you would find poetry, short stories, informative articles, humorous articles (me humorous?), biographical articles and advertisements. My portfolio includes writings on a wide variety of topics but I truly believe you write best when you write what you know and from the heart. You write best when the reader can feel you coming out of the page and sense that you are revealing a part of yourself to him.
The majority of my portfolio includes humorous stories, poems and articles about every day family life. But believe it or not I do have the ability to be a serious writer (yeah, seriously) and have recently revealed the emotional pain that I went through when I tried to conceive my sons. I've also written a great deal on traveling and the places I've been.
I've posted on Poetry Soup, Helium, and I've been published on Triond. I'm just getting started in the freelance market and my mind is buzzing with ideas. You can find me at the above mentioned websites. Take a look at my work. I really hope it brightens your day!
