I'm a student living in Tasmania, Australia. I have participated in many activities and received a number of awards throughout my school life that have enriched my writing skills.

In 2005 I gained the best score in Tasmania for the University of NSW Writing competition and in 2006 I achieved the same result for the University of NSW English competition.

In both 2006 and 2007 I participated in the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writer's Centre 'Write a Book in a Day,' where my team and I had to write a children's book with a minimum of four thousand words in twelve hours. In both cases my team was Highly Commended.

In 2007 I was also awarded Dux of Riverside High School, Tasmania. The subject awards that I gained to help me become Dux included English, Creative Writing, SOSE (Study of Society and Environment) and Science.

My greatest acheivement, however, was winning the 2007 British Council competition in which myself and a partner had to create a Myspace on global warming. Our website content won us the opportunity to represent Australia at the 2007 international student conference in London called 'Greening Cities.' My time in London not only taught me a lot about global warming, but increased my interest and hunger for further knowledge. I met other students from around the globe and also learnt a great deal about international affairs.

In 2007 I also represented Tasmania at the Model United Nations Assembly in Canberra, where pairs represented a particular country and engaged in two long days of debate. The conference was run just as a United Nations meeting would be. I learnt a great deal about the world, not only in the present but also the events that have led us to this point.

My main interests are in history and the environment, but I am also keen to become a published author in the near future.
