Brenna Beckelman

Hey World! My name is Brenna Beckelman, and I've often been told that I'm a writer! I've been writing since I was just a little kid, but it wasn't until middle school that my writing style and prowess began to take shape. Since then, I've worked hard to improve and solidify everything I create. I've written poems, songs, newspaper articles, essays dozens of pages long, and even blogs and op-eds. At my high school, I was heavily involved in the publications and English departments. I wrote for the school newspaper and published in the creative writing anthology. I also won numerous awards for my writing; these include the 2006 Departmental Award for Sophmore English, the Jack and Nancy Beaver Essay Contest, the 2008 Departmental Award for Senior English, as well as 2nd and 3rd place in creative writing. I was also the assistant editor of the 2007 Creative Writing Anthology (Zeitgeist) and the editor-in-chief of the 2008 Anthology (Conscientia), as well as an assistant editor for the school newspaper. Because of all my experiences in high school, I've become accustomed to the pressures of deadlines and the importance of article clarity and precision. I am also very experienced in the publishing program InDesign, as I have worked with this software for two years now. As I begin my college experience, I plan to keep up my involvement with publications, English, and creative writing in a variety of mediums. As far as my expertise, I have written on many diverse and expansive topics. My passions include literature and music. Most of my writing took place in English class, where I learned to focus my writing on a particular argument or theme to prove a point. I will continue with this skill through college as I earn my English major. I've been fascinated by music since I was a small child, and I've studied the art form for almost a decade now. I am a talented singer and keyboardist. I've played in a variety of bands and sang in my school's chorus and jazz ensemble. I even recorded a CD with the a capella group Uncharted. Since I was eleven-years-old, metal has been the center of my musical life, but I am also well-versed in classic rock, 90's alternative music, indie rock, and other genres. Above all, I want you, the reader, to know that I am a versatile writer who can write on almost anything. I'm very dedicated to research and facts, and I plan to serve this community well.
