Chris is a garden writer, blogger, and author living a suburban farm lifestyle in the San Francisco Bay Area. She's been gardening and studying plants for over thirty years. Her passion for gardening led her to become a Master Gardener in May of 2000.
Chris writes for numerous sites including Vegetable Gardener.com and editor of the Home Gardening section at Foodie Mama.com. Her gardening articles can also be found in magazines such a The Herb Companion and Urban Farm. Plants and gardening tips that strike her fancy get some publicity on her website A Suburban Farmer.
Her book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Composting (Alpha/Penguin Books), available in April 2010. She's currently working on her new book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Heirloom Vegetables and Seeds for December 2010.
As the mother of four and a 4H leader, Chris enjoys nothing more than sharing her love for growing things with kids and the essential impact plants have on our lives. When she isn't writing she's gardening and enjoying her husband, four awesome kids, more animals than she will admit to, and the most gorgeous grand baby you have ever seen.
