Hello All,

My name is Dustin (Dusty) Barnard and I'm from a small town called Port Allegany, PA. I just moved to High Point, NC because of my job status with Time Warner Cable. I'm a graduate of the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications.

After graduation, I moved home and started working at Adelphia Communications, which was eventually bought out by Time Warner Cable. I tried desperately to find a job in the journalism field, but in my area in PA, jobs are very limited and no one was hiring at the time.

I'm going to be getting married in December to a wonderful woman named Jean... I met her at college and we have been together since... I love her so much and cannot wait to start my life with her!

Around October of last year, during the Major League Baseball (MLB) playoffs, I had the priveledge of interviewing Josh Kinney, a relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. Kinney is from Port Allegany and since it's a very small town, everyone knew him and the Cardinals became an immediate interest in the community.

I noticed that none of the local newspapers were covering Kinney so I took it into my own hands. I got a hold of his mother and asked her a few questions and was able to write a few articles on him, which informed people of my interest in writing.

For those unware of the MLB, the St. Louis Cardinals ended up winning the World Series championship last season, so the interest in Kinney sky-rocketed after their victory. I spoke with Kinney after he returned and he praised me for the work that I did with the articles, which made me feel good about myself and the work that I accomplished.

Since those articles, I've only written one more. It was about a woman and her passion for elk hunting in central Pennsylvania. She tracked and harvested an elk and I was assigned the task of interviewing her at the request of an editor that was "supposed" to start his own newspaper and hire me as a reporter. It never happened, but I did end up getting the elk article published, which is always important to me.

I moved to North Carolina because of Time Warner Cable, which is my main job, but I wanted to find something that would keep my writing fresh. Suite101.com looks promising and I hope I can become a frequest contributor. Please feel free to leave me a message with any questions or comments!

Happy writing! Cya bye done.
