When I was making my university decisions almost six years ago, I was terrified at the thought of a BA with no job prospects dangling at the other end. I was, and still am, a writer, and I didn't know where to turn. Luckily, my hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia is also the home of the University of King's College, which offers a Bachelor of Journalism program. The day I stepped onto the school's Oxford-reminiscent campus was the day my writing career began - and I've never looked back.
Writing inspires me to view situations differently, to take in details the average citizen doesn't, and to think in the form of words on paper. A passion that comes in close second to writing is travelling, and in September of last year I packed my bags and flew halfway across the world to try my luck as an English teacher in South Korea.
Before I arrived on the ROK, I interned at Canadian Geographic Online, helped research a Nova Scotia factbook, and did some book reviews for GKFA.com. When I arrived on the Korean peninsula, I also wrote a weekly blog for three months about teaching in South Korea for GKFA.com. Teaching here has given me the opportunity to travel to destinations most people I know have never heard of, and I'm now trying my hand at mixing my experience with my writing and photography.
