Writer
Alison Stieven-Taylor, Ned Meldrum

Writing is my passion. I've been a freelance journalist for more than a decade and have written for a variety of magazines from Rolling Stone to Cleo and just about everything inbetween - I've had my work published in more than 50 different titles. I've written about rock stars, movie stars, photographers, food, travel destinations, urban infrastructure, architecture, lifestyle and leisure.

I'm the author of two books. My latest book is Rock Chicks The Hottest Female Rockers from the 1960's to Now (2007) which features mini biographies on more than twenty of the greatest rock women from Janis Joplin and Chrissie Hynde, to PJ Harvey and Pink. It's a paperback with coloured photos taken by legendary rock photographer Tony Mott and its cover folds out to a wall poster. A year after Rock Chicks' release I still get asked to come on radio shows and talk about rock music a topic I never get bored with. This book has been released internationally and is available from Amazon

My first book was The Price of Love (2005) an expose on the dating industry, The Price of Love looks at all the dating channels and services that claim they can help you find love. It is the 'lurve' industry with its pants down and it isn't always pretty.

I've worked as a TV commercial writer/director on national campaigns, a magazine editor, advertising copywriter, in corporate and consumer journalism and have run writing workshops. I've studied narrative in film and documentary and I've been taught by one of the great masters of screenwriting, Robert McKee; his Story Workshop gave me skills that are valuable across all writing genres.

When I'm not writing I'm out taking photographs and in recent years have held three exhibitions focusing on conceptual architectural photography. I now live in Melbourne, Australia, but have lived in LA where I worked in the music biz and had a ball.

I'm inspired by and interested in so many topics, and believe that everyday teaches us something new.
