I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. While I've lived in other places including Sweden, I am always drawn back to the beautiful temperate climate of Albuquerque that has the constant of our mountains always looming up majestically in the background.

My very first pet was a tricolor Pekingese named Geronimo, when I was only 1 1/2 years old. We called him Mo. My mom caught me sharing my cookies with him and not by giving him a piece either. I let him take his own bites! I can't remember a time when I didn't love animals. In fact as a child, I got along much better with animals than with people.

All of my formal education has been here in NM. I've been married to a wonderful man now for 19 years and happily! We have a big, beautiful Neopolitan Mastiff whom we rescued nearly 7 years ago as a approximately 4/12 month old very starved and abused puppy. He is my muse!

Over the years I've worked in a variety of professions in the pet industry including a pet store when I was 17 and didn't know better, grooming salons, veterinary hospitals, and boarding kennels. I've also worked in gyms being fascinated with health and fitness and also as a math tutor for quite a while at the community college here in Albuquerque.

In between jobs I started and ended several businesses and finally came back to what I love and know - animals and holistic care. I'm passionate about both and about helping pet owners learn how to do their own preventative pet care.

It's been challenging and rewarding and I love it!

I recently co-authored a book, "Whole Health for Happy Dogs" with Dr. Jill Elliot (she's based out of Manhattan, NY). That was such an experience and a big undertaking but the idea was to help dog owners have a complete and easy to understand and implement handbook.

I am also the host of the online radio show Animal Talk Naturally! with my good friend Jeannie Thomason who is a natural rearing breeder of Boston Terriers.

I'm currently studying for my bachelor's degree in holistic nutrition, and doctor of naturopathy with the Clayton College of Natural Health.

Last but not least, all of my work with and for dogs has led me to create a very small line of three aromatherapy sprays for dogs.

I am so passionate about natural pet health, care and welfare that I was led to start my own blog (well my dog Shadrach's blog)Bark 'N' Blog BEFORE I ever had my website.

Yes, it is always about and for the dogs so that they will be healthy and tail waggin' happy! Thank you for visiting the dog topic. I hope you'll come often and stick around for all the news and information on DOGS!
