I just set out on my career path after six years of higher education. I currently work with a law enforcement agency and hope to find a position as a crime analyst soon. I also love to write and after years of writing academic papers now I have the time and freedom to explore new writing styles and mediums.
I completed my Bachelor's degree in Communications & Journalism and Sociology, with a minor in Women's Studies from the University of Wyoming. As an undergrad I couldn't quite decide what I was most interested in, so I took a variety of classes outside my double major and minor disciplines, mostly psychology courses. I was a volunteer co-chair in planning a social science conference. The following year I presented a paper at the same annual conference and received a third place award for my paper titled Algeria and Colonialism: Women's Battle from Ideological Subjects to Freedom Fighters (and Back) (presented in Laramie, WY, 2003).
I completed my Master's degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. My primary focus was sexual assault and I was a contributing author for a book titled Different Crimes, Different Criminals: Understanding, Treating and Preventing Criminal Behavior (Anderson Publishing Co., 2006).
In my spare time I like to add to my running social commentary and expound upon my adventures. I am also a (very) amature photographer and professional music lover. I would go to many more live shows if I had the time. I enjoy reading and watching movies. I am currently attempting to write a book and will be thrilled if I can finish. I am excited to gain knowledge and experience to grow as a writer.
