Recent Blog PostIce Dancers - what do they wear?
Sequins and colorful fabrics makes them sparkle on the floor.
As a very small child I remember watching my father write and somewhere in my mind the wish to become a writer was already embedded. He died when he was barely forty and I was close to celebrating my eighth birthday. His success as a writer was abortive, struck down by his death and I believe that I write not just for myself but for his soul to rest in peace! My first writings were journalistic in nature and I did many interviews with Indian film personalities. It was on a very rainy evening that I penned my first short story. After writing it, I wondered whether it was good and hesitantly passed it to a friend for his opinion. He found it quite interesting and advised me to send it to a publication. That first short story saw ten more and at least five of these were published in leading magazines and one story won me a Christian Dior pen from a magazine. In 2000, my first book – a collection of short stories called `The Coconut Cutter and other stories” was published. In 2005 my first novel `Wingless’ was published. In the same year, I won the Highly Commended Commonwealth Award for my short story `Nimble Fingers’. I now work with Akamai Technologies as Manager – Marketing Communications (Asia Pac). I have passed my Masters in English Literature with distinction and am pursuing an M.BA in Marketing. I am very interested in topics related to `social issues' - we have a ton of them in India! I also like to read about `mind and soul'. I have my own thoughts on this topic related to Hinduism. Hope you enjoyed reading my profile! Anu |
