Suite101.com Contributing Writer
As a public school teacher I've worked in some remote and far flung places such as an Eskimo village 200-miles above the Arctic Circle, and a two-room schoolhouse on a small island in Puget Sound. Though I am Nationally Certified in Middle-Childhood Education, I have taught all the grades, including two years in an alternative high school.
I've written for professional journals and websites such as ASCD's Educational Leadership, Teaching Tolerance Magazine, Journey North, and The Global School House. I recently had a chapter accepted for the soon-to-be-released Breakthroughs in Literacy, from Jossey Bass. Child development and education are my areas of expertise, but I enjoy writing about many things--gardening, travel, natural history, sailing, crafts and more.
