Andrea SilenSuite101.com Contributing Writer
For as long as I can remember, I’ve used written words to express myself. As a child, I penned stories that received critical acclaim from discriminating reviewers (i.e., my mom and dad). Encouraged to develop my interest in writing, I eventually began exploring other genres, such as poetry and journalism. I continued writing into college. At this time, I also pursued my passion for world cultures, foreign languages, and chocolate croissants by becoming a French major. During my junior year, I studied in Southern France, and had (mostly) amazing (but sometimes tear-inducing) adventures all over Europe. After receiving my B.A., I began working as an editor at a publishing company and have been there ever since. My job involves writing and editing educational books for children. I am also a volunteer at an animal rescue organization, a Bravo TV addict, an amateur photographer, and an avid reader of travel and fiction books. I, of course, also work on my own writing projects, mostly about my travel experiences. I am excited about many things including my upcoming return to school to get an M.A. in International Media and my new position as a contributing writer for Suite101. |
